Lieutenant Colonel Sheryl A.E. Ott



 

Lieutenant Colonel Sheryl A. E. Ott is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 365 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. She is Detachment 365’s Professor of Aerospace Studies, and a Visiting Professor at MIT, instructing the Air and Space Studies 400: National Security Affairs and Preparation for Active Duty class.

Lieutenant Colonel Ott was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps as a Distinguished Graduate in 1996 when she graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Computer Science and Engineering. Following graduation from Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas in 1997, she was selected as a T-37 First Assignment Instructor Pilot. Following that assignment, she flew the F-16 at Osan AB, Korea, and Spangdahlem AB, Germany. Lieutenant Colonel Ott was then selected in 2007 as an Olmsted Scholar to study in Tunis, Tunisia for two years, after which she served as J3-O-Air Operations Officer and USCENTCOM Commander’s Action Group Analyst with US Central Command at MacDill AFB, Florida. In 2012, she was assigned to Creech AFB, Nevada flying the MQ-1, where she served as the Director of Operations at the 432 Operations Support Squadron. Lieutenant Colonel Ott finished her time at Creech AFB as the Deputy Commander, 432nd Operations Group. In her previous assignment, she commanded the 49th Operations Support Squadron, Holloman AFB, NM.
